07/09/2010: "Arizona #1 not 48"
Wait till Hillary finds out. She won’t believe it.
Article 30 of the Arizona Constitution “restricts” marriage to a man and a woman.
Article 7 " suffrage " that’s right, Hillary " back when Arizona became the 48th state, it gave women the right to vote. Eight years before all the other states. Before the Federal Amendment that gave women the right to vote. Before Harding was elected in 1920. Arizona became the 48th state in 1912. Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 1912.
And here’s another one: Article 8 of the Arizona Constitution; removal of elected officials from office either by impeachment or recall. Oh, that was a big one. That one says judges, legislators and executive officials can be removed from office through impeachment or recall.
Arizona was first vetoed out of statehood on recall of judges; vetoed out by none other than the President of the United States, Taft. William Howard Taft. Later to become Supreme Court Justice. He didn’t like the idea that judges could be recalled; so, he vetoed Arizona statehood.
They said okay. He crossed out recall of judges. Allowed Arizona to become state number 48. And then after they received their statehood they promptly put back in recall of judges. Voted on by the people of the state of Arizona in their election of 1912. Arizona led the way then; they lead the way today.
Article 18, Article 25: labor laws. Child labor regulated, a work day is 8 hours, Arizona is a right to work state. Laws from 1912; from the beginning of statehood. Right to work, that’s a big issue, a big issue today.
Arizona has a very interesting history. They weren’t supposed to be Arizona. They were supposed to be part of New Mexico. The Republicans at that time were afraid that they would lose control of the U.S. Senate if Arizona was allowed to become a state on its own.
If it stayed part of New Mexico the Republicans felt safe. How ironic that Barry Goldwater, Conservative Republican candidate for President in 1964 came from Arizona. Ronald Reagan nominated the first woman to the Supreme Court, Sandra Day O’Connor; she came from Arizona. Progressives of Arizona in 1912 frightened the Republicans in the U.S. Senate.
Talking about Deportation, here’s one for you. In the 1760′s King Charles II of Spain issued a decree to expel the Jesuits, all the Jesuits, from the Arizona missions. The Jesuits were first sent to Mexico City, then to Vera Cruz. From Vera Cruz they were put on ships and sent to Europe. Everything they owned, all their property went to the Spanish government. Now that was some deportation project.
So once again, Arizona becomes the headline state. They are first with an innovative idea. Not 48th. They are a sovereign state. They want to protect their citizens. They want law and order. There already is a federal law, but the federal government needs to uphold that law. The federal government is suing Arizona because Arizona wants the federal law upheld. No new law is being introduced. No new law is required. What is required is for the federal government to do its job.
We have heard and read about crimes committed against the citizenry and law enforcement officers of Arizona. Crimes. That means that there are criminals committing crimes.
Not people looking for a better way of life, but criminals committing crimes against tax-paying Americans and law enforcement officers of municipal governments. Tax paying Americans are paying taxes to the government to have their rights as citizens upheld and honored. Law enforcement officers are protecting the lives and property of law abiding citizens; they are enforcing the law.
Too many heinous crimes are being committed by illegal aliens. Arizona is over-run by their influx. The State of Arizona, through their Governor, is looking to protect their sovereignty, their citizenry, their land, their existence as a free society. What are the citizens paying taxes for?
Why is it that the federal government is seeking to give rights set aside only for citizens of America to these illegal aliens who are destroying America?
The federal government is saying in their lawsuit that the Arizona law “will conflict and undermine the federal government’s careful balance of immigration-enforcement priorities and objectives”.
Seems as though somebody better get their priorities straight. And lets get a listing of the objectives. What objectives have already been attained.
The Arizona law makes it a state crime to be in the country illegally. That sounds redundant. If you are in the state illegally, then it is a crime to be in the state illegally. Illegal is illegal.
Arizona already has put in place that voters need identification at the polls, felons are denied bail if they are suspected of being in the country illegally, and employers are held accountable if they hire undocumented workers. But there are certain groups that are challenging these laws in the courts. What an expense. Legal costs are astronomical.
I don’t buy the argument that the Republican Party is alienating the Hispanic community. Law abiding citizens of America are American.
We all partake of the American culture. Partake is the word that President Calvin Coolidge used. He was the President at the time of the Immigration Act of 1924. You’re here, you’re a citizen, you fit in. You fit in with what is American. A foreign culture stays in a foreign land. No matter where you come from, if you are a citizen of America, then that means you want to be a part of the American way of life.
The law enforcement officers are trained to do their job. They enforce the laws of the land. Why is it that the federal government is casting them as the enemy to society. The only ones looking to destroy our way of life, ruin our families, confiscate our property, commit crimes are the criminals. Look at the statistics. Look at how many are illegal aliens.
Arizona is leading the way. They are number 1. When they entered the union they were the 48th state; but in today’s top of the news item, they are number 1.
